SilverStripe reaches 200,000 downloads
Transcript From Episode CMSW2009-08-10

We talk an awful lot about Joomal, Drupal and Alfresco on this show, but there are a lot of other CMS tools, open source and otherwise. SilverStripe is one such CMS tool. This week they announced they reached the notable milestone of 200,000 downloads.

The actual number could be much higher, due to downloads from an external website SourceForge, as well as discs distributed with magazines and manuals. This also does not include module and widget downloads.

With 10 supported languages, a 450 page technical reference is available in German, and targeted for release in English this month. Is this a “CMS to watch” for 2010 or 2011? User comments on php.opensourcecms.com are mixed. One thing is clear – it is not for the beginner. Building websites using SilverStripe requires technical website development competence, and is thus aimed at providing efficiency and power to experienced website developers.
